RPM™ Reliability Deployment

ITI will help you deploy our proven Reliability Process Management Methodology on new product development programs.  RPM™ enables your organization to quickly quantify and manage new product reliability risk early in the product development process and achieve and verify your reliability targets before start of production.  ITI will work side by side with your team to execute and mentor each process step and method.  We will adapt the RPM™ process to your organization’s product line and will map the RPM™ process steps correctly to your new product development process.  At the end of RPM™ deployment, we will transfer the RPM™ technology, processes, methods, and tools to your organization for you to use on any new product development program.

Manage Reliability Risk and Achieve Reliability Targets

It is a fact that all New Product Development Projects create reliability risk by introducing new failures into the product.  To achieve your new product’s reliability targets, you must quantify this risk early during product planning.  Then you must plan and take effective action during design development to avoid these new potential reliability failures.  The RPM™ Process will ensure that you:

RPM™ Reliability Process Management is Unique in New Product Development

There are many reliability engineering tools and products on the market, but Reliability Process Management uniquely provides a clear and structured set of steps, methods and tools to achieve new product reliability.  RPM™ processes, methods, and tools are optimized to 1) maximize risk mitigation activities, 2) minimize the cost of system test, 3) systematically avoid and mitigate failures, 4) continuously measure and track the impact and results of all reliability activities throughout the entire product development process.  The first step of deploying the RPM process on a new product development project is to develop an effective Reliability Failure Avoidance Plan and an optimized Reliability Growth Test Plan

RPM™ Brings Structure to Managing New Product Reliability

Reliability Process Management is a Strategic Methodology to bring structure to new product reliability.  The RPM™ Methodology ensures the systematic application and management of all necessary reliability engineering activities and tools. The RPM™ Methodology provides this structure in three basic steps:

RPM Planning

Reliability Process Management guides you early in the product development process to quickly develop an optimized reliability plan to reach the new product reliability target.  During product planning, you will be able create both a proactive reliability plan and a reliability growth test plan and balance these plans with other project constraints of cost, and schedule.  The RPM planning methodology optimizes these two plans to focus resources on areas of highest new content reliability risk and minimize the overall cost required to achieve reliability targets.
Both the proactive plan and reliability growth test plans are based on predicted reliability risk metrics which are traceable to specific activities which allows risk reduction and mitigation to be calculated, tracked and monitored throughout the entire plan execution process.  The following steps will ensure the development and management of an effective new product reliability plan:

The RPM™ Planning Methodology provides the following key features and benefits

RPM Proactive Reliability Execution, Tracking, and Monitoring

Developed during RPM™ Planning, The proactive reliability plan specifies detailed risk mitigation and failure avoidance activities to be performed during concept and detail design.  The second step of Reliability Process Management is to execute, track, and monitor the proactive reliability plan developed through RPM Planning.  The proactive plan specifies all reliability activities required to achieve the amount of failure avoidance and reliability risk mitigation planned to be achieved before the end of the design development phase.  These proactive activities are optimized to provide maximum failure avoidance in those subsystems and specific product areas of the high new content reliability risk.

As proactive reliability activities are executed and completed you will regularly track the resulting risk reduction on a proactive tracking chart.  The proactive tracking chart enables you to continuously monitor actual risk mitigation progress over time as compared to the plan.  Benefits of proactive planning, tracking, and monitoring include

Reliability Growth Test Execution, Tracking, and Monitoring

The reliability growth test plan is developed during the RPM™ Planning step and specifies an system level reliability growth test design which will achieve and validate the required reliability growth target before start of production.  The reliability growth test plan design will include the following optimized test parameters and specifications:

As the reliability growth test is executed, RPM™ test tracking enables you to continuously track, chart, and monitor actual test results as compared to the plan.  RPM™ Reliability Test Tracking will continuously chart and monitor the following results:

Throughout the entire reliability growth test phase RPM test tracking and monitoring provides clear and continuous picture of the current test status and current achieved reliability level as compared to the plan.

RPM™ Production Reliability KPI Tracking & Reporting

RPM™ Production Tracking provides the capability to continuously monitor updated warranty data and report essential reliability key performance indicators (KPIs) for all products in the marketplace.  With automatic RPM™ reliability KPI reporting, managers will always know and understand the ongoing reliability performance of all their products, product lines, and product divisions.  The KPI reports will provide the following essential reliability performance metrics:
