With size and diversity come tremendous obstacles in sharing product data among a vast chain of suppliers. For Samsung, time spent preparing and reworking CAD files was proving to be time-consuming and largely ineffective.
The Solution
ITI's DEXcenter™ was selected to solve the problem. Through DEXcenter, CAD files are automatically prepared, translated, and transmitted to requirements and intended usage of targeted systems.
Implementation
ITI worked with Samsung Data Systems (SDS) to deliver a fully integrated, Korean version of DEXcenter. Further customizations allowed the ability to certify user authentication, receive data directly from PDM systems, and integrate enterprise portal systems.
"Rather than focus resources to develop and maintain our own data integration solution, we chose to leverage ITI's expertise," stated Samsung's Kuk Jin Kim, Manager E-CIM Center, Corporate Technology Operations.
"DEXcenter provides a proven method for exchanging product data among our existing design, collaboration and data management systems and processes as well as those of our global suppliers. This consistency and reliability translates directly into improved process efficiency and significant time savings."
Results
Following successful implementation at its Visual Display and Printer divisions, Samsung will extend additional DEXcenters throughout all divisions providing more than 5000 users access to DEXcenter services.
